Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary was marked with a variety of initiatives and events, from an interactive installation in Bapu’s voice in Fort, a clean-up drive by nearly 1,500 students at Versova beach and a replica of Sabarmati Ashram put up at a Khadi Fest in Vile Parle. At Mahatma Gandhi Road, a two-day interactive installation was witnessed by over 500 people. An initiative by Tata Salt, the installation saw people being urged to walk Bapu’s path. It reinforced the message of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness.’ Gaurav Pethe, who came up with the installation, said it had a screen board and four sensors with facial detection capability. So every time someone passed by, the the 35-second interaction started by saying, “How are you?”
